Diagnostics

Proper diagnosis lays the foundation for orthodontic treatment. As well as conventional X-ray technology, a cone beam computed tomography imaging device (CBCT) is available. An individual treatment plan is drawn up in each case.

Orthodontic treatment for children – a three-phase process

Phase 1:
Removable devices in the pre-puberty phase of growth; stimulation and coordination of growth (duration of treatment approx. 2 years). Early treatment of certain kinds of anomaly.

Phase 2:
Dental brace
Fine adjustment of the occlusion (of the jaws) (duration of treatment approx. 1 year)

Phase 3:
Retaining devices
Duration: permanent
Preservation and stabilization of the result of the treatment

The devices for the individual treatment phases

Phase 1:
Placeholders, extension disk, activator, bionator, double bite jumping plate (Sander II), Backward sliding double plate (Sander III), spring activator, Orthodontic headgear, Lingual arch, quadhelix, individual head and chin cap, delaire mask, pendulum.

Phase 2:
1. Multiband apparatus, tapes and brackets, if necessary implants for anchoring:

    Brackets:
  • Standard Bracket (Metal Brackets)
  • Toothbrush Brackets (ceramic brackets)
  • Self-ligating brackets (speed brackets)
  • Nickelfree Brackets
  • Lingual technique
      Bows:
    • Super elastic bows
    • Steal bows
    • Combination bows

    2. Physical change of the tooth position with removable splints (the invisible treatment)

      Phase 3:
    • Retention plates
    • Retainer
    • Splints

    Treatment of adults

Treatment of adults is confined to

    • orthodontic treatment to improve the positioning of teeth as a pre-prosthodontic measure or for cosmetic reasons.
    • the combined orthodontic and surgical treatment of severe jaw disorders.

The devices used in the treatment of adults are the same as those used in phases 2 and 3 for children.
